Our Vision

Our dream is to create a home for people that seek a deep and intimate encounter with God and desire to create lifelong friendships. This can only be done through open dialogue, accentuating an appreciating, and the ability to listen as well as speak. We celebrate the diversity of individuals, their opinions, and their spiritual journey.

We hope to see this happen in three ways.

1) Community

We value every person from every worldview as family. We do not have membership or a test that one takes to be welcomed or more a part of us. We do this because we believe this is how Jesus did ministry. He never asked anyone to first change then follow him. Rather he simply said “follow me” and they changed simply by being around him. No matter doubts, questions, politics, or social status, the Tree of Life Community is your home.

2) Apprenticeship to Jesus

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died and rose again to save us from our helpless state and that our response to such a wonderful gift is to become his students. Jesus was a Jewish Rabbi who had a way of living that he wanted his disciples to follow. We spend every Sunday discussing what it means to love our enemies, forgive, be free of addiction to wealth and approval, and strive to always live in the life giving power of the Kingdom. We believe that this change of character is a long, arduous, and spiritual process that requires an ongoing communion with the Holy Spirit.

3) Priesthood of Every Believer

We believe that all Disciples of Jesus have different roles in the church but all have the same power and life available to them through Christ. No person is greater than another based on race or gender and all believers have a type of ministry to fulfill as the Lord leads. As a church, we need to make a physical impact on the city around us in all areas of need like poverty and neglect. We have ministries to the homeless, the abused, hungry children, and we help many with physical needs in our community.
